What is Turned, Ground and Polished Shafting (TG&P)?
The process of Turned, Ground and Polished Shafting starts with a bar, which is either hot rolled or cold drawn. It is turned in a lathe where the material is basically taken off. This turning procedure continues until the steel bar gets to the desired size. Multiple passes might be required to achieve this. This is followed by the grounding process which smoothens the surface, reduces any uneven wear as well as the balancing issues. The bar is grinded with the grinding wheel, till the desired dimensions are achieved. It is then polished to get a smooth surface. This end product is known as the Turned, Ground and Polished Shaft.
